Under the direction of the Executive Director of Operations and the Chief Nursing Officer the Director of Labor and Delivery will provide strategic clinical and operational leadership for the inpatient Labor and Delivery units on the campus.
This role is accountable for delivering results aligned with the Quadruple Aim and for advancing a patient-centered high-reliability care model. Working in close partnership with campus and regional leadership medical directors and shared services the Director leads the transformation of Labor and Delivery services to improve outcomes reduce unwarranted variation and strengthen care coordination across the continuum.
As the focused clinical leader for Labor and Delivery the Director ensures alignment with regional standards of care drives performance improvement strengthens physician partnerships oversees fiscal stewardship and ensures compliance with all professional regulatory and accreditation requirements.
What Youll Do
Lead Clinical Excellence: Provide overall leadership for Labor and Delivery services ensuring high-quality safe and evidence-based care.
Drive Operational Performance: Oversee staffing throughput and care delivery models to meet patient needs acuity and budgetary goals in a changing healthcare environment.
Advance the Quadruple Aim: Develop and maintain performance metrics and a balanced scorecard to improve quality affordability caregiver experience and patient experience.
Develop and Inspire Leaders: Coach and mentor managers and frontline leaders fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.
Partner with Physicians: Collaborate with physician leaders to improve clinical outcomes implement best practices and enhance patient and provider satisfaction.
Ensure Fiscal Stewardship: Lead budget preparation and execution communicate financial expectations and support leaders in achieving operational and financial goals.
Champion Change and Innovation: Leverage technology data and improvement methodologies to modernize care delivery and enhance outcomes.
What Youll Bring
Education & Credentials:
Masters degree in Nursing Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA)
Bachelors degree in Nursing (if Masters is not in Nursing)
Washington State RN license (upon hire)
Nursing leadership certification within two years of hire
Experience:
At least five (5) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience preferably within a related clinical service line
Demonstrated experience leading teams managing complex operations and driving process improvement
Experience in a unionized healthcare environment
Leadership Capabilities:
Strong financial acumen including budgeting reimbursement and cost management
Data-driven decision-making and familiarity with performance analytics and benchmarking
Proven ability to lead change using Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies
Exceptional communication relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills
