GENERAL SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Youth Ministry is a lay ecclesial minister who is responsible for developing a pastoral ministry with youth. This includes weekly or bi-weekly gatherings monthly activities mission trips regional national international events and catechesis. The Coordinator is responsible for reaching out to all youth in the faith community providing for formal catechesis and inviting and enabling youth to serve addition the Coordinator is responsible for developing close communication with and mutual support from families of youth and collaborating with other communities diocesan and parish and school youth organizations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build young disciples for Christ through a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry using Life Teen resources as the foundation.
- Serve as a spiritual leader mentor and role model.
- Foster faith formation through worship discipleship catechesis mission and outreach.
- Design develop and implement programs and events to enhance and foster the faith formation of the youth.
- Collaborate with parish staff families and diocesan offices.
- Participate in summer activities to include Plunge and Life Teen camps and conferences.
- Design and implement weekly monthly and seasonal youth ministry programming.
- Track participation in programs and works with the Pastor to develop a mechanism for receiving feedback on program effectiveness.
- Recruit train and supervise volunteers and youth leaders. (Core recruitment and development is key. Training should be well thought out and all Core should have to apply and be interviewed prior to acceptance. A strong Core policy is important and Core Recruitment should be ongoing.).
- Ensure strict compliance with Safe Environment policies of the Diocese of St. Augustine.
- Manage event logistics paperwork registrations and funds which are time sensitive.
- Maintain strong communication with parents parish staff and the Diocese.
- Support fundraising efforts to ensure accessibility for all youth. Fundraising efforts should include youth participation and visibility to the parish members.
- Works closely with parish business office to maintain oversight of youth ministry budget expense reporting fundraising targets and stewardship of funds
- Communicate with parish public relations department to assist with social media email marketing database/registration systems (e.g. parish software).
- Ensure compliance with privacy and media consent policies by collecting tracking and maintaining up-to-date parental/guardian authorization forms for the capture and publication of childrens images across digital and print platforms.
- Ensure alignment with Parish and Diocese of St. Augustine mission and policies.
- Participate in Parish Council and monthly DOSA Youth and Young Adult meetings.
- Participate at all DOSA youth events.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelors degree in related field required.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing and active member of Assumption Catholic Church.
- Youth Ministry certification or formation program preferred (National Certification Standards for Lay Ecclesial Ministers serving as a Youth Ministry Leader USCCB/CAA).
- Must be or become familiar with the key youth ministry documents published by the USCCB.
- Continuing education in the field of youth ministry and related fields is encouraged.
- Strong organizational communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work evenings weekends and travel out of town and overnights as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients vendors employees and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
