Summary:

The Technician Student Nutrition Services Equipment will inspect repair and maintain commercial food service appliances and equipment utilized within a food service facility. The Technician Student Nutrition Services Equipment is a non-OTETA (Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act) position and complies with the districts Safe Driver Plan.

Responsibilities:
Repairs malfunctioning food service equipment.

Operates and properly utilizes testing and calibration equipment required to maintain gas electric and steam food service equipment.

Performs documented preventative maintenance on an annual basis as directed by a supervisor or crew leader.

Maintains logs and records of equipment service dates.

Assists in the preparation of parts ordering information on individual pieces of equipment requiring repair. When directed appropriately corresponds with suppliers and Student Nutrition Services personnel to assure that repair parts are received in a timely manner.

Assists in the installation of new replacement food service equipment and assists in making the final connection to utilities including water (hot and cold) and power systems.

Helps to develop and apply all appropriate safety measures and practices related to food service equipment maintenance.

Works independently or in a team environment when assigned by a supervisor. Assists in setting equipment maintenance priorities.

Maintains a working general knowledge of both food service industry technology advancements as well as all updates to governmental codes and regulations.

Attends training required by the district to keep abreast of industry advancements and provide on the job training of subordinates upon completion of all training courses.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Education: A high school diploma vocational or GED certificate. Degree or formal training in food service equipment repair and maintenance field is preferred.


Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in food service equipment repairs in the plumbing electrical and appliance repair field with one (1) year of related management or supervisory experience required.



Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Possession of a valid Florida Class E drivers license and comply with districts Safe Driver Plan.



Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals technical procedures or regulations. Writes reports correspondence and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.



Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.



Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



Physical Activities: Standing walking sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching bending crawling handling keyboarding fingering feeling talking hearing depth perception color vision and field of vision.



Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds; over 55 pounds must be 2 person or assisted lift.



Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.



Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 4 loud; extreme cold extreme heat wet/humid work with cleaning chemicals - wear eye protection vibration/impact work with or near heavy equipment proximity to moving mechanical parts exposure to electrical shock and working in high exposed places.



OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Eligibility for interview requires the successful passing of a written and/or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms and/or tools and their use.
