The Biodiversity and Heritage Regulator (BHR) has hit the ground running since commencing on 19 January 2026. We are currently seeking to appoint three Coordination and Planning Officers. This is an exciting career opportunity to be involved in building a mature and effective regulator.

About the role

The Coordination and Planning Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting senior leadership by driving high-quality coordination business planning and project delivery across the Division. This includes managing daily briefings and correspondence supporting branch-wide initiatives contributing to performance reporting and leading or assisting with process improvement customer service and risk management projects.

The role regularly collaborates with staff across branches BHR Divisional Support Office and other CPHR Divisions working within a fast-paced high-volume environment where effective communication sound judgement and strong relationship building are essential. Team culture is highly collaborative focused on integrity continuous improvement and delivering integrated portfolio-based advice while the client/stakeholder portfolio spans internal teams as well as external organisations who partner with the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water.

About You

To thrive in this role you will love working in a busy fastmoving environment where priorities can shift quickly and no two days look the same. You enjoy supporting senior leaders coordinating projects and helping a team stay organised.

A background in business planning performance reporting process improvement and risk awareness is incredibly useful as is the ability to juggle multiple tasks while keeping things running smoothly across the branch. If youre someone who likes bringing clarity to complex information spotting issues early and contributing to meaningful initiatives these strengths will be put to good use.

You will use your people skills to help build strong relationships across BHR and beyond. Clear communication collaborative working staying calm under pressure and handling sensitive information with good judgement all contribute to success. Confidence using digital tools a practical approach to project coordination and a positive solutions-focused mindset will help you make a real contribution to the teams performance and culture.

Key knowledge and experience

Knowledge and experience of working in a fast paced and high work volume office including a proven capacity to support senior level staff in the management of projects and issues.
