Job Summary

Qualifications:

  • South Carolina certification as required for the position
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary/middle level or in specialized reading or math programs with elementary/middle-level students
  • Documented evidence of data analysis used to develop student intervention plans
  • Documented evidence of students meeting or exceeding student projected growth on Reading and Math MAP testing (or comparable academic performance testing)
  • Skills in computer word processing spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent skills in accurate record-keeping and written and oral communications
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Candidates must be willing to participate and successfully complete Reading Recovery teacher training. Completed applications must be submitted to the Reading Recovery Training Center Clemson University. A teacher in training will work individually with four reading recovery children per round for part of the day.

Reports To: Principal

Job Goal

  • To plan and implement intervention instruction using various data sources to determine the focus of individual and group instructional plans
  • To implement individualized intervention plans to aid students in meeting Reading and Math MAP growth goals

Performance Responsibilities

  • Teach targeted literacy and/or math intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
  • Meet regularly with the teachers to collaborate regarding the strategies and methods used to address the reading literacy and math needs of students receiving interventions
  • Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy as assigned by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment:

190 days per school year; salary and work year to be established by the Board
