Job Summary
A longstanding family-owned produce distributor is looking for an Accounting & Business Support Manager to join their team. They treat their employees like family and are looking to connect with someone with similar values a solid work ethic and a strong accounting background. They are an all-hands-on deck team who provides support to other departments and areas of operations. This position will include additional responsibilities within Food Safety & Compliance Marketing and Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have experience within the fresh produce or perishable food industry.
**Due to the hands-on nature of their business the role is not available for a home based or hybrid work situation.
ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accounting background experience is the primary focus of this position. This position will oversee all financial and accounting functions within the organization that will also include:
- Monitoring A/P and A/R
- Generating financial statements
- Cash Management
- Assist in year-end audit
- Consignment Inventory/Grower Accounting
Responsible for managing the supply chain of goods received on consignment and to make sure that all related sales and expenses are properly accounted for in the Final Account of Sales. This includes:
- Monitoring open accounts receivables (unpaid)
- Processing invoice adjustments
- Remitting payments to suppliers
- Preparation of annual supplier contracts
FOOD SAFETY & COMPLIANCE- will train if needed
Ensure that products meet regulatory food safety standards safety guidelines proper labeling and quality requirements. Experience with CTPAT and other supply chain security programs- huge plus!
MARKETING- will train if needed
Working with social media print and digital content. Ideally any experience working on brand awareness content creation and promotional campaigns.
HUMAN RESOURCES- will train if needed
This position will oversee the HR department that will include: recruitment employee relations performance management benefits training and compliance with labor laws.

Experience and Skills Needed:
- BS degree- Accounting Finance or related field-
- Must have GAAP experience-
- Highly organized detail oriented high sense of urgency to handle perishable product and changing business conditions-
- Microsoft Office expertise (Excel Outlook Word etc.)
- Proficient in accrual and cash basis accounting-
- Consignment Inventory experience- preferred
