POSITION: IT Specialist

REPORTS TO:Executive Director of Technology
JOB SUMMARY:This positions responsibilities include working as a team member in providing support and assistance for various types of hardware and software throughout the District as needed. Other duties include prioritizing and attending to help desk requests providing technical advice and assistance to end users for appropriate software/hardware purchases tracking software and hardware inventory and to providing end user training on as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Models appropriate and cooperative behavior including protecting confidential information consistent with District ethical guidelines
- Assists in the organization and management of technology including installation and implementation of hardware and software at various sites
- Manages compliance issues relative to software and supporting instructional materials
- Researches and provides staff with support on hardware and software issues
- Installs software hardware and assists in the maintenance of software licensing compliance
- Provides access support for approved district-wide networked applications
- Assists the Director of Technology and special services in determining technology and information processing needs
- Supports and implements district standards for common system configurations conventions and backup policies
- Supports the wide area network including configuration of client workstations to operate effectively on a WAN
- Effectively communicates verbally and in writing and with administrators teachers staff and outside vendors
- Maintains current knowledge of hardware software network equipment
- Provides technical and instructional support related to assistive hardware software peripherals and other technologies necessary to compensate for student disabilities and promote academic success
- Installs configures and maintains assistive hardware software and peripherals in Assistive Technology Centers
- Troubleshoots corrects and repairs hardware and software
- Makes recommendations for improvements and upgrades of the Assistive Technology Center
- Performs research and development with new access technologies and software suitable for implementation in the educational environment
- Maintains inventory of all hardware and software
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams
- Helps with the training of students with disabilities in appropriate assistive technologies as derived from their individual assessment or personal choice
- Conducts presentations and workshops on the use and application of assistive technology to students staff and relevant others
- Stays up-to-date in the fields of adaptive technology and alternative media
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of an WSP FBI background check
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Skills in computer operation general maintenance and knowledge of Microsoft (9x XP Vista Win7 SERVER 2003) MS Office Reflections software Tracks and various other application software
- Some knowledge of Macintosh systems software and hardware
- Skill in researching and analyzing internal hardware/software conflicts
- Ability to facilitate solutions coordinate activities to produce results
- Skill in software installation implementation testing and troubleshooting
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Skill in providing technical advice and instruction to non-technical staff
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of end users at various knowledge levels
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- Work Day: 10 Hours Per Day 4 days per week (or perExecutive Director of Technology)
