Home School Assistance Program Supervising Teacher

Knoxville Community School District is seeking qualified candidates for the following anticipated position for the school year:

Home School Assistance Program (HSAP) Supervising Teacher

Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements and demonstrate the ability to:

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelors Degree or higher preferred
• Current Iowa Certificate with appropriate endorsement (or willing to obtain)
• Successful home school experience preferred

Primary Responsibilities

• Meet with parents/child no fewer than four times quarterly (2 face-to-face)
• Consult with families regarding
• Lesson plans
• Textbooks and materials
• Setting educational goals and objectives
• Teaching techniques and learning styles
• Forms of assessments and evaluations
• Diagnosing student strengths and weaknesses
• Interpreting assessment data
• Record Keeping
• Maintain a log of visits with families
• Refer students who may need special education to the HSAP Coordinator
• Explain dual enrollment options to families
• Engage in continued professional learning related to evidence and research based instructional practices pedagogy and high quality instructional materials
• Teach KHSAP program classes as assigned by the Program Coordinator
• Collaborate with and assist the Program Coordinator and other staff in planning developing and implementing HSAP programming and activities
• Assist in planning and attend family support meetings for the grade levels of children being supervised. These meetings will count as a face-to-face contact with families being supervised who are in attendance
• Prepare to facilitate and/or present on topics related to home education at family support meetings as requested by the HSAP Coordinator
• Develop and maintain positive relations between families the KHSAP team members and other District staff and departments
