Job Summary
16 James Hematology Oncology - D/N or N - AYA OFFER (MED SURG UNIT) If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract you may be scheduled for days nights or a combination of both depending on the department s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. HEMATOLOGY ONCOLOGY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED. MEDSURG EXPERIENCE REQUIRED ONS CERTIFICATION PREFFERED ($) Staffing ratios - goal is 1:4 but can be 1:5 Weekends - variable based on unit needs No set/blocked scheduling as that is not something we offer our permanent staff Self-schedule requests - you will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule First week of orientation is Mon - Fri dayshift. Second week is 36hrs of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Oncology experience preferred but not required Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology Units Patient Diagnoses Lymphoma Multiple Myeloma Acute leukemias Chronic Leukemias Sickle Cell Disease other non hem cancers Other benign hematology Special Procedures/Unit Details Chemotherapy Blood transfusions IV Antibiotics Oncologic emergencies: tumor lysis syndrome cytokine release syndrome Insulin drips Heparin drips Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls Certifications Required BLS ACLS Skills Required MS/Tele Telemetry Interpretation of dysrhythmias Telemetry -on the unit monitoring Use of Rapid Response Teams Feeding tube care and management IV therapy/Phlebotomy Blood Product Administration Central line blood draw Peripheral Line Care/Management PICC line management Starting IVs COMPUTERIZED CHARTING EPIC
