Job Summary
Viking Academy was created to support students who learn differently and thrive in a unique program structured to support struggling and at risk students toward academic and social success. We are seeking a dynamic leader focused on supporting students and staff as they work together to achieve student success. This is an 11-month position that includes benefits. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years successful teaching experience.
- Masters degree.
- Valid Tennessee teaching license required; administrative endorsement required.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL
To assist the principal in providing school wide leadership and to
learn the roles of other administrators.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises the total curriculum.
- Assists the principal in the supervision evaluation and coordination of certificated staff as assigned to the departments of responsibility.
- Assists the principal in the recommendations for employment of personnel to be assigned to the departments of responsibility.
- Assists the principal in making teaching assignments of staff in departments of responsibility.
- Develops and maintains an observation schedule local and state.
- Maintains a record of all observations.
- Supervises departmental staff meetings minimum of one per month and provides typed minutes of each meeting.
- Attends weekly administrative staff meetings.
- Establishes and submits in writing annual goals and objectives for curriculum and professional improvement.
- Assigns supervises and evaluates student teachers.
- Assists in the management of the instruction supply budget and submits requests for required materials in the departments of responsibility.
- Prepares all requests for instructional supplies and capital outlay equipment.
- Procures distributes and inventories all textbooks.
- Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of assigned instructional equipment.
- Reviews leave requests from assigned staff in the area of responsibility.
- Schedules and coordinates special services staff and multidisciplinary team meetings insuring the involvement of the appropriate administrators.
- Plans and coordinates the inservice programs for the school.
- Assumes responsibility for publishing monthly newsletter and student handbook.
- Assists in the preparation of student schedules.
- Chaperones dances and other school events on a rotating basis with other administrators.
- Pursues avenues to keep the building in good condition and conducive to student learning.
- Serves as principal in the absence of the principal.
- Performs such other duties as may reasonably be prescribed by the principal.

- Manual Dexterity: Ability to move the hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers.
- Form Perception: To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures.
- Color Discrimination: Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color.
