Preferred- Masters degree in an approved program which qualifies for principal certification with the state of South Dakota. Undergraduate or graduate emphasis in Special Education.
Minimum- Enrolled in a Masters degree program eligible for degree completion and South Dakota principal certification within two years of hire.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
A minimum of three years teaching experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires constant handeye/mind-eye coordination hearing; intermittent walking talking writing. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists fingers and hands are required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the best educational practices and effective schools research.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Participates in Leadership Development Institute sessions and activities.
- Assists in the supervision of staff assigned to the building.
- Conducts drop-in observations and works with teachers to improve student achievement.
- Assists the principal with chairing IEP meetings.
- Assists the principal in providing a safe and secure environment for learning.
- Assists the principal with student discipline and behavior management.
- Communicates with staff parents students and the school community.
