The Parks Special Event Student Intern 2 assists the Parks & Recreation Department with the planning coordination and execution of community events festivals and recreational programs. This internship provides hands-on experience in event planning public engagement and municipal recreation operations.
Required Knowledge:
- Ability to analyze information summarize findings and present results clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff stakeholders and the public.
- Capacity to adapt to different work environments and learn new systems and procedures.
- Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to county policies and procedures.
Required Tasks:
- Assist with planning and organizing community events festivals and recreational programs.
- Support event setup and breakdown including equipment signage and activity areas.
- Coordinate with staff volunteers vendors and community partners.
- Provide customer service and information to event attendees.
- Assist with event registration attendance tracking and participant communication.
- Help promote events through social media flyers and community outreach.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and assist with reporting and documentation.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as data entry scheduling and supply inventory.
- Attend departmental meetings and planning sessions as needed.
Educational Requirements:
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university program with coursework in Recreation Management Event Management Parks & Recreation Public Administration Communications or a related field.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience with volunteer coordination or community engagement preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Google Workspace or volunteer management systems preferred
