Job Summary
The English Schools Foundation (ESF) Hong Kongs largest international English-medium school organisation is seeking a System Analyst to join the innovation team at ESF Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative AI-driven applications that are transforming the education industry.
About the Role
You will join a dedicated multidisciplinary development team building an interactive application powered by various cutting-edge technologies. The project combines psychological research and AI agents in educational settings aiming to develop an autonomous AI system that amplifies human expertise. The current focus is on developing an MVP (minimum viable product) with significant expansion potential beyond the education sector.
This position is based at the ESF Centre in North Point operating as a 2-year full-time contract (renewable by mutual agreement).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop support and maintain a web application with a Laravel Blade frontend and Laravel API backend integrating with a Python Django API.
- Enhance and implement new interactive features including conversational agent functionalities and data visualisation modules.
- Ensure seamless integration and robust performance between Laravel and Django services.
- Collaborate closely with other developers researchers and consultants to design test and optimise application features.
- Support the presentation of complex information through intuitive interactive data visualisations.
Requirements
- Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in IT application development.
- Proven expertise in PHP (Laravel framework) including Blade templating API development and MySQL.
- Strong background in integrating multiple backend systems using PHP and/or Python.
- Proficiency in HTML5 CSS3 JavaScript and responsive design using Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap.
- Experience in developing data visualisations (e.g. dashboards or similar libraries).
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving project coordination and team collaboration.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with Git Docker Linux or cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP etc.).
- Knowledge of LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) for educational apps.
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Angular.
