REPORT TO: Chief Operations Officer

CLASSIFICATION: Salaried Exempt Full Time 12-months

JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration coordination and evaluation of the human resource function that includes but is not limited to recruitment and onboarding processes performance evaluations policies and procedures employee relations training and development and payroll and benefits.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide leadership in setting vision and goals for the HR department and for its ongoing operation.
  2. Lead and support the HR personnel and their respective functions.
  3. Provide leadership and support for Title IX compliance including coordinating with the Title IX Coordinator on policies procedures and response to misconduct and serving as a resource to leadership and employees.
  4. Annually review and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organizations policies procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  5. Lead and implement the EU staff and faculty training and development program for the organization in conjunction with the EU team to provide continual learning and personal and professional growth for employees.
  6. Oversees the employee benefit programs administration (group health dental life long-term & short-term disability insurance retirement plans FMLA and workers compensation).
  7. Oversees the biweekly and monthly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  8. Assists executive management in the annual review preparation and administration of the organizations wage and salary program.
  9. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organizations compliance.
  10. Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  11. Communicates changes in the organizations personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
  12. Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  13. Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  14. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate or as directed by the COO on personnel matters.
  15. Prepares analyzes and monitors monthly budget and general ledger reconciliation and manages the annual departmental budget.
  16. Maintains a human resource information system that meets the organizations personnel information needs.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:

Education:Bachelors degree in HRM Business Administration or related field required. Masters degree in HRM or Business Administration strongly preferred. Professional certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR) preferred.


Experience:A minimum of five years of HR experience required.A familiarity with Federal and/or State employment laws and other related legislations is a must.Experience in employee benefits administration and working in a higher educational institution preferred. A familiarity with ADP Work Force Now and/or Ellucian Colleague system is a plus.

  • Able to effectively organize prioritize integrate and harmonize diversified functions in working with multiple departments and people
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and interact with others in professional manner
  • Able to maintain objectivity and safeguard confidentiality
