Learning Diversity Educational Assistant (Part Time, Hourly-Paid) Sha Tin College
Job Summary
Sha Tin College is seeking to appoint an Educational Assistant hourly-paid (Full-Time / Part-Time) to support neurodiverse students across a wide range of subjects. The EAs primary duty is to help students access the curriculum. It is performed mainly through direct support to students in the classroom and where appropriate supporting small groups or through development of resources and administrative tasks. This position starts mid Aug 2026. The part-time position might potentially develop into a role with full-time hours.
Key Responsibilities
Support for Learning and Teaching:
- Assist in the educational and social development of pupils.
- Assist in the implementation and planning of Individual Education Programmes for students and the monitoring of students academic progress.
- Support students in mainstream classes including all academic subjects and field sports.
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum safely. Matters relating to health and safety ultimately remain the teachers responsibility.
- Assist in the maintaining of student records.
- Support students with emotional/behavioural problems and help develop their social skills/behaviours.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom including supporting access to camps Extra Curricular activities educational visits and whole school activities to enable students to fully participate in activities.
- Monitor students responses to learning tasks through a range of assessment activities providing feedback to teachers.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and present displays of students work: teachers will make professional decisions in determining what material is displayed.
- Support teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support Learning and Teaching.
- Undertake other duties from time to time as the teachers/managers require including collecting money; Copy typing and Inputting student data; Producing class lists; Record keeping Filling; Collating material; Stocktaking; Cataloguing preparing issuing and maintaining equipment and materials and Ordering supplies and equipment.
Standards and Quality Assurance:
- Support the aims and ethos of the School and Department by behaviours which display concern for the student as a whole person tact discretion confidentiality and the willingness to work as a member of a team
- Work collaboratively with teachers
- Attend team and staff meetings as requested
- Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Manager or School Principal
- Recognize and respond effectively to equal opportunity issues as they arise following relevant policies and procedures
Supporting Student Behavior:
- To act as a role model for students
- To support the schools policy of positive behaviour reinforcement
- To establish trust and rapport with students
- To be assertive where appropriate
- To understand and implement the students behaviour management program where appropriate
Perform other duties and responsibility as delegated.
Core Professional Competencies required
Abilities:
Build and maintain a successful relationship with students treat them consistently with respect and consideration and are concerned for their development as learners.
Fluent in English:
Ability to work effectively with individual students small groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of the teacher.
Knowledge:
Sufficient knowledge expertise and awareness of students social emotional and learning needs to work effectively with teachers as part of a professional team.
Experience
Experience in this field would be beneficial but not essential.
