Job Title:Campus Principal

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Masters degree

ValidTexasPrincipal certificate

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of campus operations

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Ability to implement policy and procedures

Ability to interpret data

Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Experience:

At least 3years experienceas a classroom teacher

At least 2years experiencein administration (preferred)

Instructional Management

  1. Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions.
  2. Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs helping teachers pilot suchefforts whenappropriate.
  3. Promote the use of technology inteaching/learning process.
  4. Plan implement and evaluate instructional programs withsuperintendentand teachers including learningobjectives instructional strategiesand assessment techniques.
  5. Apply research and data to improve the content sequence and outcomes of the teaching-learning process.
  6. Work withappropriate staffto developmaintain and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis.
  7. Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meetstudent learning needs.
  8. Ensure the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
  9. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instructionprogram effectiveness.

  2. Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff inaccomplishinginstructional goals.

School/Organizational Improvement

  1. Build common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct planning activities andputprograms in place with staff to ensure attainment of school mission.
  2. Identify analyzeand apply research findingsto promote school improvement.
  3. Develop and set annual schoolperformanceobjectivesfor each of the Academic Excellence Indicators using the schoolsplanning process and site-baseddecision makingcommittee.
  4. Developmaintain and use information systems andrecords necessary to showprogress on performanceobjectivesaddressing each Academic Excellence Indicator.

Personnel Management

  1. Interview select and orientnew staff.
  2. Define expectations for staff performancewith regard toinstructional strategies classroom management and communication with parents.
  3. Observe employee performance record observations and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
  4. Assign andpromote school personnel.
  5. Make recommendations to superintendent on termination suspension or nonrenewal of employees.
  6. Work withplanning and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities.
  7. Confer with subordinatesregardingtheir professional growth. Work with them to develop andaccomplishimprovement goals

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

  1. Comply withschoolpolicies andstateand federal laws and regulations affecting the school.
  2. Compilemaintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required includingaccurateandtimelyreports of maximum attendanceto requisition textbooks.
  3. Requisitionsupplies textbooks and equipment; check inventory;maintainrecords; and verify receipts for materials.
  4. Manageuseof school facilities. Supervise maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean orderly and safe campus.
  5. Coordinate custodialand other support services.
  6. Help plan daily school activities byparticipatingin the development of class schedules teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules.
  7. Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendanceand work with clerical staff forfollow-up investigations.
  8. Work withfaculty to compile annual budget requests based ondocumented program needs.
  9. Assistwith safety inspections andsafety-drillpractice activities.

Student Management

  1. Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  2. Ensure that school rules are uniformlyobservedand that student discipline isappropriateandequitablein accordance withStudent Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  3. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents students and teachers.
  4. Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Demonstrate professional ethical and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all campus staff.
  2. Participate in professional development to improve skillsrelated to jobassignment.

  1. Demonstrate awareness of schoolneeds and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  2. Useappropriateand effective techniques to encourageparent involvement.
