Position Description:
Responsible for the oversight leadership and achievement of results for multiple Retail Store locations for Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay. Directs all aspects of daily operations; leading the team and driving the business. Provides strategic vision leadership and general management skills for both short- and long-term success. Key responsibilities include store operations financial management human resources control of inventory and training & development. Maintains control-related standards and procedures. Builds and retains motivated high performing teams through effective leadership of line management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Executes retail operations plan to achieve required targeted growth in daily monthly quarterly and yearly goals for profit revenue and production for multiple Retail Store locations.
Spends time in the stores with retail teams and customers to understand and identify business critical issues in order to ensure the alignment of tactics and strategies.
Coordinates with Store Managers to define objectives and goals by constantly developing innovative and cost-effective product generation; monitors product levels daily to achieve bottom line sales budget against targets.
Works with Senior Retail Leadership to generate ideas about future retail activities to ensure a cutting-edge strategy; maintains up-to-date knowledge of the market place competitors and trends.
Partners with Retail Leadership to facilitate the annual budget process.
Partners with HR Department to ensure people management goals are achieved and issues are satisfactorily resolved.
Ensures store locations deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
Ensures store locations are clean well-kept and reflect the Goodwill brand appropriately.
Partners with community businesses and organizations to promote Goodwills mission.
Serves as a Goodwill ambassador to the community.
Ensures that store leadership is well-trained and fulfill their duties and responsibilities.
Coordinates efforts among locations to allocate donations Team Members and leadership to maximize area performance.
Ensures the district complies with all policies and procedures relating to Security Health and Safety; influences any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements ensures minimum risk to Team Members and the business.
Must have reliable transportation to visit each location regularly (at least once a week) to teach train and inspire.
Partners with support areas (Asset Protection Human Resources Safety Finance Learning & Development etc.) to further business goals and ensures compliance with applicable policies procedures and regulations.
Leads the district in building a strong sales management culture; spends time coaching store leadership identifies skills and opportunities for development; provides advice and guidance on issues. Identifies top talent through interviews and hiring to ensure the organizations capability to deliver on its goals.
Responsible for performance management (coaching discipline performance improvement plans and annual reviews) staffing compensation and development of Store Managers.
Ensures that store leadership effectively manages performance of Team Members.
Responsible for meeting or exceeding district revenue (approximately $30 Million/fiscal year) and meeting or exceeding operating income.
Oversees the operation of 10-14 retail locations.
Responsible for the management of production output approximately 5.6- 7.8 mill in production dollars monthly. Monitors production performance daily weekly monthly.
Maintains production metrics by location. (IPG Sell thru price average etc.)
Provides feedback to production summaries nightly. (after normal business hours)
Conducts store audit visit form with each store visit and communicates this daily.
Writes weekly reflection and recap to include where the week was spent areas of opportunity and how they are working to impact stores. Also to include what they are working on for personal development.
Coordinates and facilitates monthly Store Manager meetings follows up on store specific monthly meetings.
Leads and develops 10-14 Store Managers.
Indirectly leads and develops 20-28 Assistant Store Managers 10-14 Customer Service Managers and 350-490 Team Members.
Monitors Safety and Asset Protection audits addresses opportunities with store leaders. Works with Safety and Asset Protection to resolve Team Member cases and escalations.
Partners with Recruiting on store needs (both management and front-line). Conducts interviews and onboarding.
Handles escalated customer care concerns and works with the customer to resolve their issues communicates with customer care on resolutions.
Works with facilities on work order escalations monitors work order needs per location checks overall facilities needs during store visits. Ensures Goodwill brand from facilities standpoint while conducting store visits.
Checks overall marketing needs per location also checks for proper signage throughout locations and submits signage requests as needed.
Reviews and manages P&L spending order approvals concur approvals. Works with finance on P&L questions discrepancies and approves leader incentives.
Monitors new good sales orders goods completes cycle counts and monthly new goods inventory.
Sits on various committees as assigned.
Writes truck loops routes nightly for their district (363 days per year. To include days off unless assigned to a peer during sick time/ vacation.)
Coordinates with transportation on escalated needs regarding trailer swaps compactor swaps empties and product requested.
Follows up with Quarterly weight test audits.
Prepares for store tours job shadows work in retail assignments. Helps with grand openings various 1:1 tours and shadows to understand retail setting.
Expected to be in the field working alongside their teams conducting store visits from 8-5pm. Given one ½ day for administrative work all remaining administrative work is expected to occur before or after normal scheduled hours.
Works one closing shift and one Saturday shift monthly.
Occasionally assigned to attend Quarterly cookie visits.
Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education Experience Skills):
3-5 years of experience with a large-format retailer overseeing approximately 8-12 locations
Candidates with experience in progressive leadership over a large-scale thrift store or experience in high volume grocery restaurant or manufacturing leadership roles are strongly encouraged to apply
Previous experience managing $30-35M in annual revenue or currently managing an $8-10M store preferred
Proven experience in managing leaders is required
Demonstrated ability to generate revenue and achieve production goals
Strong understanding of financial metrics reporting and budget management
Strong computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to speak and read English proficiently. Valid drivers license required and ability to pass an MVR check
Ability to pass a background check where applicable for position.
