About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Lead Environment the Lead Environment Systems is responsible for the management and execution of compliance regulatory permitting and internal standards related to contaminated sites waste and air quality at our Fording River Operations this role you will have the opportunity to drive and enhance compliance and the site environmental programs.

To be successful we are looking for someone that demonstrates a balance of operational experience applied technical abilities in air quality dust mitigation waste and spill management and regulatory processes. The ideal candidate can multi-task adapting quickly in a dynamic work environment is innovative and has solutions-based critical thinking. The successful candidate will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to build and maintain relationships with the operational workforce as well as regulators and contractors.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Manage and support a team focused on compliance environment program execution and field compliance monitoring
  • Provide technical direction and field support for emerging environmental issues
  • Identify risks issues and challenges develop and evaluate options implement solutions
  • Develop annual budgets to support the completion of objectives
  • Collaborate with and develop and maintain working relationships with on-site groups including Engineering Processing Maintenance and Operations
  • Management of external consultants and collaboration with internal subject matter experts as required
  • Understand applicable commitments legal obligations and associated requirements to advise management decisions and activities
  • Prepare and submit all vital data and reports to meet regulatory and other internal commitments including presentation of technical information to a variety of audiences

Requirements:

  • Engineering or Science degree or diploma in an environmental related field
  • Holding a professional designation and meeting the BC provincial requirements of a qualified professional for applicable programs is an asset
  • Minimum five to eight years experience providing technical direction and influencing operational environmental related risk management and challenges associated with resource management
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations related to air quality waste management spill response and remediation
  • Technical understanding of soil or water chemistry and experience with risk evaluations
  • Excellent project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical direction of multiple environmental projects and budgets
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a proven capacity in problem solving
  • Strong leadership organizational interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in environmental data management analysis reporting and environmental databases
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$106000 - $131000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
