Job Summary

Primary Purpose:

The Executive Master Teacher works as an integral part of the district Division of Academics. The executive master teacher has primary responsibility for ensuring master teacher effectiveness is improved and outcomes are met in and across the district. As such the executive master teacher will support this objective by developing professional development and training provide targeted intentional coaching and work on special projects with campus-level secondary master teachers. The ideal candidate possesses high-levels of content and content-pedagogical knowledge which is undergirded by a strong understanding of the educational beliefs practices and structures of The National Institute for Excellence in Teaching.

Qualifications: Education/Certification:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited university/college
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Experience:

  • 3 years of secondary teaching experience
  • Coaching educators using data-driven insights to evaluate instructional practices improve teaching effectiveness and refine instructional programs to enhance student learning outcomes.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Participate in TAP Summer Institute (TSI) to establish instructional priorities growth goals and monitoring systems aligned to school improvement plans.
  • Collaborate and coach secondary master teachers to maximize instructional time resources and impact on student achievement.
  • Implement strategies to ensure that secondary master teachers are informed of and aligned with all district initiatives as well as NIET processes structures and procedures resulting in maximized effectiveness at the campus-level as evidenced through increased teacher practice and student outcomes.
  • Serve as an active member of the Division of Academics and District Academic Leadership Team (DALT).
  • Model the districts One Team One Voice vision through actions relationships and decision-making.
  • Foster and maintain positive professional relationships with all stakeholders to support district initiatives and events.

Coaching Walkthroughs & Feedback (NIET Rubric-Aligned)

  • Ensure secondary master teachers develop and monitor Individual Goal Plans (IGPs) reviewing progress a minimum of three times per year in collaboration with administrators.
  • Conduct weekly cluster walkthroughs for secondary master teachers and formal observations as needed.
  • Provide specific actionable feedback during post-conferences with secondary master teachers aligned to instructional goals and refinement areas.
  • Provide coaching and feedback on cluster implementation as seen through multiple perspectives: engagement during cluster and evidence of impact (teacher practice and student growth).
  • Facilitate coaching cycles including modeling co-teaching and providing real-time feedback.

Data Monitoring Analysis & Communication

  • Develop implement and monitor the district-wide Progress Monitoring Tool ensuring continuous data population and analysis.
  • Support the development of district and campus assessment calendars; and the creation of standards-aligned assessments and exemplars.
  • Participate in data conversations to identify instructional strengths and growth areas with the district academic team and weekly master teacher meetings.
  • Present actionable data and progress monitoring artifacts during district academic team meetings and DALT.

Professional Development

  • Work alongside secondary master teachers to identify needs (using data and evidence gathered from a variety of sources) and determine strategies to support these needs through weekly Cluster meetings.
  • Provide feedback to secondary master teachers on the long-range/cluster cycle plans and the weekly Cluster Meeting Record (CMR).
  • Monitor effectiveness of cluster meetings and recommend adjustments based on performance data and team input.
  • Serve as a resource and thought-partner to enhance secondary master teachers proficiency to synthesize local data (teacher and student) instructional practices and resources (digital and print) to improve educator effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of all secondary master teacher meetings sign-in sheets for master teachers meetings and all district-level professional development sessions.
  • Model effective instructional practices in a master classroom that reflects both fixed and flexible learning spaces.

Instructional Facilitation & Planning

  • Monitor effectiveness of master teacher support during instructional planning and recommend adjustments based on instructional plans recourse usage and performance data.
  • Use student formative and summative data to support master teachers in preparing for grade-level/ content instructional planning to ensure evidence-based decision-making occurs.
  • Serve as a resource to master teachers by providing research-based strategies tools and instructional materials.

Professional Growth & Reflection

  • Develop a personal IGP based on feedback district improvement goals and self-assessment.
  • Study and apply research and best practices to strengthen current professional knowledge and design and facilitate professional development at the district-level to enhance facilitation and coaching with adult learners.
  • Reflect regularly on the effectiveness of assigned responsibilities and assess impact on master teacher and student growth.
  • Monitor and reflect on master teacher teacher and student growth over time to inform professional practice and strategy adjustment.
  • Model effective instructional practices in a master classroom that reflects both fixed and flexible learning spaces.

Change Leadership

  • Lead and model a culture of continuous improvement by challenging the status quo and facilitating data-driven courageous conversations.
  • Advocate for student-centered decision-making ensuring all actions are aligned with equity excellence and student success.

Elementary Collaboration & Vertical Alignment

  • Work collaboratively with Elementary Master Teacher to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum instructional practices and assessment expectations from elementary through secondary levels
  • Partner with Elementary Master Teacher to analyze student performance trends identify instructional gaps and proactively address transition challenges between grade bands
  • Co-develop and support the implementation of aligned instructional strategies and frameworks that promote continuity in student learning experiences across K12
  • Engage in joint planning data conversations and professional learning opportunities to strengthen coherence in teaching practices and expectations across campuses
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices between elementary and secondary teams fostering a unified approach to instruction and student support
  • Support alignment of foundational skills (e.g. literacy numeracy academic discourse) to ensure students are prepared for the rigor of secondary content
  • Collaborate on district initiatives to ensure consistency in implementation messaging and expectations across all grade levels
  • Contribute to a culture of collective responsibility by building strong cross-level professional relationships focused on improving student outcomes

Other:

  • Work collaboratively with Elementary Master Teacher
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

Work Environment: Work is performed in a school environment; frequent meetings and classroom visits required. May occasionally work evenings or weekends to support campus events or district initiatives.
