Exp - 5 -7 years
Work Timing - 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM
About the Role
Applied Systems is hiring a Database Administrator Cloud Services to ensure reliability performance and security for our PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases across AWS Azure and GCP. Youll support missioncritical insurance applications drive standardization and improve automation and cost efficiency in a highly available cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server to ensure availability performance and security.
- Monitor database health troubleshoot incidents and deliver rootcause analysis with preventative fixes; participate in an oncall rotation.
- Design and optimize schemas indexes and queries in partnership with product and engineering teams.
- Operate robust backup restore and disaster recovery processes aligned to RPO/RTO including regular failover/restore tests.
- Perform installations upgrades and migrations across onpremise and managed services (MS SQL RDS/Aurora Azure SQL Cloud SQL).
- Apply security best practices (least privilege encryption auditing) and maintain clear documentation and runbooks.
Requirements (Musthaves)
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
- 35 years as a production DBA with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Handson experience with on-premise and AWS Azure or GCP managed database services (MS SQL RDS/Aurora Azure SQL Cloud SQL etc.).
- Strong fundamentals in database design indexing transactions and performance tuning using query plans/DMVs/pgstatstatements.
- Proven backup recovery and HA/DR experience with executed tests (not just documented plans).
- Incident response experience in highimpact environments and clear communication with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with observability tools: Solarwinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA) Redgate SQL Monitor CloudWatch Azure Monitor GCP Monitoring and DataDog.
- Automation/IaC for database operations (PowerShell Python Terraform Ansible; Flyway/Liquibase or similar versioned migration frameworks).
- Experience with insurance or financial services and PIIhandling or prior exposure to Applied Systems products.
