Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Chemistry Teacher to join an outstanding secondary school in York. Role Overview:
As a Chemistry Teacher you will be responsible for planning delivering and assessing engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work collaboratively within the science department to develop teaching resources implement effective strategies and monitor student progress. Your work will ensure students gain a thorough understanding of chemical concepts while fostering a love for science and experimentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high-quality chemistry lessons in line with the school curriculum.
Assess and monitor student progress providing timely feedback and support.
Develop and maintain teaching resources schemes of work and lesson plans.
Create a positive inclusive and engaging classroom environment that encourages participation and curiosity.
Support extra-curricular science activities including clubs experiments and competitions.
Contribute to reporting assessment processes and preparation for examinations.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and support departmental initiatives.
Uphold the schools safeguarding health and safety and behaviour policies.
Skills and Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in chemistry or a related subject.
Strong subject knowledge in chemistry and understanding of the science curriculum.
Excellent classroom management organisational and communication skills.
Ability to inspire motivate and challenge students of varying abilities.
Experience in assessment curriculum planning and tracking student progress.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
