Description:Reports To:Summer Camps Site Coordinator
Position Purpose:Assist lead teacher providing opportunities for students to be exposed to academic/enrichment activities using small groups and project-based learning approaches.
Qualifications:
Meet the general requirements of being a paraprofessional
Prefer that selected candidates have passed the ParaPro assessment
Be a current employee of Topeka Public Schools USD 501
Have a fun personality and exceptional work ethic whether activities are outdoors or indoors
Preference will be given to applicants with previous Summer Camps experience.
Physical/Emotional Requirements:The candidate may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day:
Speaking Hearing manual dexterity mobility lifting (as much as 20lbs) pushing pulling bending stooping sitting handling a variety of stressful situations flexibility in adjusting to varied levels of pressure and intensity patience calmness persistence
Performance Responsibilities:
Support the certified teacher
Assist in providing a fun learning environment for students
Work with students in small group or 1:1
Be up and moving with students helping as needed
Supervise classes when the certified staff is not present
Supervise students at breakfast and lunch
Terms of Employment:
Academic/Enrichment Summer Camps hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
Academic/Enrichment Summer Camps will run from June 1-25 2026 (Monday-Thursday).
