Prairie Valley School Division spans approximately 27000 square kilometers across southeastern Saskatchewan. The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Board of Education the Director of Education serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the overall leadership administration and operational integrity of the Division. This role is grounded in the Boards policy framework and requires a deep commitment to transparency accountability and student-centered decision-making.
The successful candidate will champion the Divisions strategic direction while ensuring alignment with provincial legislation Ministry of Education requirements and Board policies.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Board Relations
- Foster a strong respectful and transparent working relationship with the Board of Education.
- Provide timely accurate and relevant information to support effective governance and informed decision-making.
- Advise the Chair and Board on emerging issues risks and opportunities impacting the Division.
Strategic Leadership & Policy Alignment
- Lead the development implementation and monitoring of the Divisions strategic plan in alignment with Board priorities.
- Ensure organizational practices reflect Board policies regulatory requirements and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Student Success & Well-being
- Promote safe inclusive and high-quality learning environments that support student well-being growth and achievement.
- Ensure effective instructional and assessment practices across the Division.
Program Innovation & Delivery
- Oversee the design implementation and evaluation of responsive and inclusive student programming.
- Support innovation to meet the diverse needs of rural and Indigenous communities.
Human Resource Leadership
- Build and sustain a high-performing collaborative leadership team.
- Promote a positive organizational culture that values professional growth accountability and staff well-being.
Financial & Operational Stewardship
- Provide responsible financial leadership ensuring effective allocation of resources aligned with strategic priorities.
- Oversee infrastructure planning to maintain and enhance Division facilities and assets.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivate strong relationships with students families staff Indigenous partners government and community stakeholders.
- Represent the Division with professionalism integrity and responsiveness.
Qualifications
- Professional A Teachers Certificate issued pursuant to The Registered Teachers Act
- Masters degree in a field that relates to the major duties of a director of education
- Teaching and educational administrator experience in Canada
- Eligibility for membership in the League of Educational Administrators Directors and Superintendents (LEADS)
