Duration: 1 Months (Possibility of Extension)

  • Position is part-time for dates Monday June 1 2026 through Friday Julyam 12noon up to 20 hours/wk.
  • Required to complete a 2-day orientation arranged by the Clinical Director
  • Candidate will be required to undergo FBI fingerprinting 5-panel drug screen HepB vaccination or declination and TB testing prior to start.
  • Copy of teaching certification required at time of submission.

Purpose of Position/Summary:

  • The teaching positions a summer position at the Center to keep structure in the childrens day and help them to maintain the progress made during the regular school year.
  • The position is responsible for planning coordinating and facilitating a summer school program for 8 weeks during the summer months. This position reports directly to the Clinical Director.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ongoing compliance with agency division and facility policies and procedures.
  • Follow the directives of the Clinical Director
  • Complete daily teaching plans to facilitate smooth operation of the school day.
  • Teacher half day of school for 8 weeks during the summer months using hands on activities to support the academic progress made during the school year and reinforce life skills.
  • Develop an overall summer school plan that includes themes speakers field trips etc prior to the start of the summer school classrooms convening.
  • Plans coordinates and conducts a variety of individual and group activities within the school day to support the growth of each child.
  • Responsible for documenting on the school progress report weekly for the childs medical records with notes reflective of the childrens response to the program
  • Complete 2 day orientation to be arranged by the Clinical Director.
  • Meets weekly with the Clinical Director or more often as needed to make sure plans are in place help is secured for special programs and resources are available to carry the program out.
  • Facilitate teamwork among other departments working closely with Nursing Services who provides support staff in the school setting.
  • Evaluates academic skills

Job Requirements:

  • Strongly collaborative leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in clear and concise manner
  • Organizational ability to plan form and execute programs and policies
  • Ability to self direct initiate change as needed
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree with special education endorsement

Required skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree with special education endorsement
  • Organizational ability to plan form and execute programs and policies
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with hospital staff therapists and social workers.
  • Prior experience with therapeutic teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with child psychology trauma-informed practices and psychiatric conditions.
  • Experience in working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • CPR certification.
