About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk and Assurance Specialist to join NHVR. This role will play a key part in maturing the existing risk and assurance framework. You will support the uplift of the organisations risk management practices as well as design and execute a fit for purpose assurance program across NHVR.

Reporting to the Manager Enterprise Risk and Assurance this is a permanent full-time position based in the NHVR head office in Newstead Brisbane.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • You will play a key part in strengthening risk management and assurance practices across the organisation and develop implement and continuously improve risk policies frameworks and registers ensuring consistency accuracy and alignment with organisational objectives.
  • You will actively foster a strong risk culture by partnering with business areas to identify assess and manage risks while enhancing control design and effectiveness. This includes conducting assurance reviews control testing and targeted assurance activities to provide meaningful insights and drive improvements.
  • A key responsibility will be coordinating the internal assurance program delivered by third-party providers scoping activities managing relationships and reviewing findings to ensure quality outcomes. You will also monitor and track issues and actions working closely with stakeholders to support timely resolution.
  • You will contribute to the development of risk dashboards reports and committee papers leveraging tools such as Power BI to deliver clear and actionable insights. Additionally you will support and uplift capability across the organisation by facilitating workshops delivering training mentoring staff and promoting a network of risk champions.
  • The role requires strong analytical skills to identify emerging and systemic risks assess control effectiveness and uncover gaps across diverse business areas. You will bring a collaborative and influential approach working with stakeholders at all levels to drive continuous improvement in risk and assurance practices.
  • Strong communication skills are essential with the ability to prepare high-quality policies procedures reports and executive briefings as well as confidently facilitate discussions and presentations. Experience or knowledge in fraud and corruption control and privacy management is desirable.
  • You will operate in a dynamic environment with competing priorities applying sound judgement to manage and resolve issues effectively while maintaining compliance with organisational policies and promoting a safe and healthy workplace.

About you

Ideally you will bring at least four years experience in a corporate environment within an enterprise risk role with other responsibilities that could include quality governance or related function such as risk internal audit compliance or quality assurance.

You will have a proven track record of working closely with senior executives and are confident engaging at an executive level demonstrating strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You are highly proficient across a broad range of standard software applications and information systems.
