North Greenville University is receiving applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Management and Marketingand Associate or Full Professor of Management or Marketingbeginning with the start of the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.Candidates applying for this position should hold an earned doctorate in Management or Marketing from an accredited institution. Excellent oral and written communication skills problem solving skills as well as demonstrated leadership vision and collaborative skills are necessary to assist in the successful operation of the department and the college. The ability to integrate biblical faith in the teaching discipline is essential. Leadership experience as a Chair or Program Coordinator would be advantageous.
North Greenville University is a teaching university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Members of the NGU faculty are orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ are role models in their piety and ethics maintain active membership in an evangelical congregation and mentor students academically and spiritually. They are Christian scholars who reflect upon their discipline from the perspective of a biblical worldview and are expected to teach in accordance with and not contrary to the universitys Statement on Human Flourishing. All employees of NGU are required to abstain from illegal drugs and beverage alcohol to agree to abide by the employee and faculty handbooks including community standards agreements and to affirm an understanding of and willingness not to teach contrary to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management for the Department of Management and Marketing.
- Serve on the leadership team for the College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
- Assist the college leadership with strategic planning and continuous improvement.
- Manage the full-time and part-time faculty within the department.
- Conduct periodic program review for departmental curricula.
- Develop departmental curricula including course and program proposals and revisions.
- Prepare annual Institutional Effectiveness reports for programs offered by the department.
- Conduct an annual review of full-time faculty and adjunctive instructors in the department.
- Participate in creating the course schedules for the College.
- Assist with faculty searches and recruit quality adjunctive instructors and the onboarding of new faculty.
- Lead the department in academic advising.
- Maintain office hours.
- Participate in faculty meetings and serve on university committees.
- Participate in campus events (e.g. chapel convocations graduation preview days etc.).
- Develop professionally through reading practice scholarship and formal instruction.
- Be involved in service to the University the profession the community and the Church.
- Teach courses in Management or Marketing in the classroom and potentially in an online environment. The normal course load is 18 semester hours per year.
- Intentionally and explicitly integrate the Christian faith with teaching and scholarship.
- Model genuine Christian faith in and beyond the workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the dean and associate dean.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Able to move between buildings and attend classes meetings and functions across campus.
- Speaking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately professionally and with a contextually appropriate tone and volume.
- Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and express emotions and thoughts in an honest collegial constructive and prudent manner.
Working Relationships and Work Schedule
This position is a full-time position with a 12-month contract and a nine-month instructional period. Classes will primarily be taught in person on the Tigerville campus but online undergraduate or online graduate courses may also be part of the teaching load. The Chair of Management and Marketing reports to the Associate Dean of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship who reports to the Dean of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
