We are looking for a dedicated Medical Technologist like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will do in this Role:

    • Accurately performs correct blood collection procedures using a variety of standard equipment and ensures timely and appropriate transportation to the laboratory.
    • Identifies patients and labels specimens correctly and legibly according to departmental policy.
    • Processes labels and stores specimens appropriately for subsequent testing.
    • Performs laboratory procedures reports and evaluates test results in all laboratory areas ensuring accuracy reliability and validity of results through application of clinical knowledge and training. Performs testing with respect to quality and timeliness.
    • Demonstrates awareness of and compliance with the laboratory record keeping test resulting and report handling policies.
    • Understands quality control policies and demonstrates skills required to perform quality control procedures and evaluate quality control results.
    • Demonstrates ability to operate troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation perform calibration and participate in technical and operational problem solving. Documents and reports concerns according to lab policies.
    • Effectively uses a variety of computer systems and programs.
    • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure that patient rights are protected.
    • Promotes positive morale and team work by interacting effectively with members of the laboratory and other service areas of the hospital and external customers.
    • Orients mentors and teaches clinical laboratory methods procedures and techniques to new employees or co-workers as applicable.
    • Participates in staff meetings continuing education and mandatory in-services.
    • Complies with all safety and regulatory practices policies and procedures.
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

    • Bachelors degree from four-year College or university; Medical Technology degree preferred.
    • Experience preferred
    • *MT (ASCP) MLS(ASCP) or CLS (NCA) or other applicable national certification. If this certification is not complete and/or current at time of hire it must be done within one (1) year from date of hire
    • Ability to perform complex advanced clinical procedures and to effect appropriate modifications to existing procedures
    • Ability to independently analyze verify and assess clinical and/or laboratory data.

Your Shift: Full Time Nights (2100 - 0700) including rotating holidays

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac orthopedic nephrology urology and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic orthopedic urology and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms 4 fully operating OR rooms 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room 11-day surgery rooms 58 acute care beds spread over three units and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families physicians and our employees.
