Summary: Teaches early childhood elementary school middle school or high school subjects to students with physical or intellectual disabilities.

Employee has access to all client protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises one to three teaching assistants in the classroom. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities will vary by program but may include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university with major in Special Education. Arkansas teaching license required. Certification in special education preferred. Individuals completing an alternate licensure plan will be considered. Three or more years experience as a classroom teacher preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management public groups and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
