Chemotherapy Co-Director- Mission Cancer & Blood (Des Moines)
Job Summary
Mission Cancer & Blood part of UI Health Care is seeking a Chemotherapy Co-Director to provide direction of the clinical practice manager the Co-Director of the Chemotherapy Infusion Center will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all chemotherapy suites at Mission Cancer Blood part of University of Iowa Heath Care. The Co-Director is responsible for the overall operation of the outpatient chemotherapy infusion suites and the clinical supervision of their assigned staff.
Duties to include:
Assisting the clinical practice manager with all aspects of the operation including but not limited to recruiting selecting hiring and training staff.
Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments setting priorities and directing.
the work of the practice nursing employees
Manages coverage of all nursing and pharm tech positions throughout the day
Coordinates certification of chemotherapy hoods yearly and as needed
Address any personnel issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment
Coaching and counseling of staff; completion of performance evaluations
Assuring compliance with all regulatory and patient safety goals
Developing and implementing policies and procedures that assure a high level of quality care
Organize education of staff for new chemotherapy drugs
Oversee yearly education and training required for compliance
Supports performance improvement initiatives
Supports clinical practice manager in supervising all clinical staff of the infusion enter facilitating positive interaction among staff patients and other departments
Assumes responsibility for professional development
Assumes full responsibility for the unit in the areas delegated and in the absence of the clinical practice manager.

Required Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Nursing or related field is required. If Masters Degree is in related field Baccalaureate in Nursing is required.
Must obtain an advanced degree in nursing health care administration or business administration within five (5) years of beginning this position.
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
Experience Requirements:
At least three (3) years of comprehensive progressive healthcare leadership/administrative experience
Demonstrated skill in leadership/management and experience in clinical practice of nursing
Experience with unit/clinic operations including human resources financial management and compliance with regulatory environment with various federal and state agencies and the Joint Commission
Demonstrated ability to lead change
Must be proficient in computer software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to fostering/promoting a respectful and welcoming workplace environment
Desired Qualifications:
Previous clinic management experience
Previous experience in an academic medical center
Previous experience in the administration and management of clinical settings
Demonstrated results in improving patient satisfaction levels
Demonstrated results in improving clinical operations
Experience managing in a matrix reporting and unionized environment
Certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body
