Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the CFO the Director of Revenue Cycle Services oversees all functions and departments of the revenue cycle including Patient Access Services Health Information Management Revenue Integrity & the Charge Master and Patient Financial Services to optimize the patient financial experience and maximize collection of payments. Analyzes revenue and reimbursement data and information and reports to the CFO. Performs audits to ensure coding compliance billing compliance charging compliance and revenue integrity throughout the CHN network. Provides education to all reporting departments and staff on the revenue cycle in collaboration with the department managers. Oversees payer contracts and contract compliance for all payers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership: Provides leadership of all functions departments management and staff of the departments of the revenue cycle. Provides an experience and environment of patient and family centered care. Oversees direction and leadership of operational financial programmatic and personnel activities for all departments. Direction of the day-to-day operations budgets financial management and human resource management of all departments.

Key Performance Indicators: Provides tracking monitoring and reporting of numerous RC metrics and key performance indicators related to the key areas of the revenue cycle to develop sound and effective analysis and reporting for continuous improvement. Provides leadership to department managers for KPIs within their respective departments and functions. Prepares and delivers reports to operational leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual KPIs including denials management charge capture coding accuracy etc.

Customer Service: Ensures provision of quality customer services in all functions within the Revenue Cycle and compliance with CHNs collection policies and procedures including private pay collections and bad debt assignment to outside agencies.

Revenue Integrity: Provides leadership to all revenue generating department to capture all revenue appropriately and accurately for services provided to patients. Provides information and reporting for late charges lost charges and coding for all services to department leadership.

Continuous Improvements: Takes part in the execution of plans to continuously identify and improve the Revenue Cycle as a whole. Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes; manages resources for staff participation in improvement work activities. Ensures effective facilitation of improvement teams and development of leadership skills to ensure overall effectiveness of initiatives for the revenue cycle. Remains current of all new trends and best practices and incorporates into the Revenue Cycle practices and programs. Demonstrates achievable and measurable results and develops action plans for improvement.

Communication: Actively listens to staff ideas and concerns assesses other communication styles and adapts to them. Creates bi-directional systems that effectively communicates information and data utilizing multiple methods.

CHN Vision & Mission: Responsible for incorporating CHNs vision missions and values in goals programs and departments of the Revenue Cycle. Creates functional strategies and objectives in alignment with the vision and mission for all RC departments. Actively seeks opportunities to improve financial outcomes engaging staff in the process. Other duties as assigned to support the business and in accordance with CHNs Mission Vision and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelors degree in business healthcare or related field is required. A Masters degree in business healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in Patient Financial Services HIM Revenue Integrity or Patient Access Services is required. and
  • A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a management role is required.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and review processes including prior experience utilizing revenue cycle information systems to mine for detailed data.
  • An advanced knowledge of federal and state regulations related to medical billing and payments is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and relationships across all levels in the organization; excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in English both when writing and verbally.
