Job Title: District Library Media Center Specialist
Classification: Certified
Supervisor: Director of Curriculum Assessment and TAG Programs
FLSA Status: Exempt
Contract: 193 Days
Summary:The District Elementary Media Specialist will provide direct supervision for all elementary media assistants on a rotational basis for the following areas: Communication regarding duties and work environment instruction and supervision for ordering collection maintenance according to building needs (including discarding outdated/damaged materials) adherence to budget assistance in monthly district meetings communication of relevant library media information communication with district supervisors and building principals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Library Media Center Organization and Management.
- Promotes and guides literature selection.
- Collaborates with each building media assistant in the maintenance of library print materials software and audiovisuals as well as developing building resources to promote effective utilization of technology.
- Assists in evaluating and recommending all media materials and equipment based on district selection guidelines and school program needs.
- Develops justifies and administers the library media centers budget with the principal.
- All managers of the District who have budget authority are responsible for accessing monthly financial reports and reviewing related documents and statements for accuracy without prompting. Any issues should be reported to Finance immediately.
- Maintains appropriate records.
- Provides training and information regarding the duties of library media assistants.
- Assists the building principal in the direction of duties for media assistants.
- Maintains monthly communication with building principals the Director of Elementary Education and the principal regarding library assistant job performance.
- Serves on district curriculum committees to provide media materials equipment and services to meet curriculum needs.
Library Media Skills Instruction
- Promotes and provides guidance in literature selection and use of media.
- Uses practical communication skills with all levels of staff.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Performs any other duties the Director of Curriculum Assessment and TAG Programs may assign.

Education and/or Experience:Must be eligible for or possess the appropriate license by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for assignment as an educational teacher with an endorsement in Educational Media or equivalent.
