Job Title: Behavior Assistant (Special Education - SPED)
Location: Aldie VA 20105
Duration: 11 Weeks Contract (Possible Extension)
Shift: MondayFriday 8:00 AM 3:30 PM
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Assistant to support students with behavioral emotional and developmental challenges in a special education setting. This role involves working closely with teachers and specialists to implement behavior intervention strategies and foster a safe structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Support students with emotional behavioral and learning disabilities
Monitor track and document student behavior and progress
Provide one-on-one or small group behavioral support
Help manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques
Assist teachers in maintaining a structured and supportive classroom environment
Support students during daily routines and transitions
Collaborate with teachers counselors and parents as needed
Ensure student safety and follow crisis intervention protocols
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience working with children preferably in a special education setting
Knowledge of behavior management techniques (ABA preferred)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience empathy and ability to manage challenging behaviors
Ability to follow structured plans and maintain consistency
Basic documentation and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Education Psychology or related field
Experience with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
Prior school or classroom support experience
Work Environment:
School or special education classroom setting
May involve physical activity such as standing assisting students and de-escalation support
Requires close interaction with students with diverse needs
