Job Summary

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Assistant Professor in Community Dentistry of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 534737) to commence as soon as possible on a four-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract subject to satisfactory performance.

The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Facultys undergraduate and postgraduate programmes research excellence and clinical/professional services have attained global recognition as evidenced by the Facultys global rankings among the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for nine out of the past eleven years (2015-2025). The Facultys strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence Craniofacial Regeneration Microbiome Innovation Oral Cancer and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange (KE) activities as well as in oral health research and promotions in international regional and local communities.

Applicants should possess a Dental Bachelors degree or equivalent and a clinical specialist qualification or equivalent status in Community Dentistry. They should have:

  1. ability in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and practice;
  2. potential for and interest in research;
  3. proven ability in clinical excellence;
  4. ability and willingness to participate in Faculty affairs; and
  5. participation in KE activities.

Publications in international peer-reviewed journals are considered an advantage.

The appointee will engage in the clinical and didactic teaching in Community Dentistry supervise research projects develop his/her own line of research and participate in the clinical and administrative duties of the Faculty. He/she should demonstrate excellence in clinical care research and teaching in the field of Community Dentistry. He/she is also expected to work collaboratively in a dynamic and diverse environment develop a competitive research portfolio and contribute to the curricula available at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
