Job Title:Foreman Electrician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Purpose:
Responsible for supervising field crews of skilled personnel and ensuring that all electrical jobs are performed according to specifications and the established codes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Master Electrician license
- Valid Texas drivers license
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors
- Knowledge of local electrical codes
- Ability to read blueprints schematics and written reference material
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to supervise personnel
- Experience in residential commercial and industrial construction
Experience:
- Five years of experience in electrical field
- Three years of supervisory and administrative experience in electrical field preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures power equipment and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code manuals specifications schematics and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus including motors relays switches thermostats circuit-breaker panels etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring cables conduit and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams schematics or blueprints.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
- Measure cut bend thread assemble and install electrical conduit using rulers measuring devices hand tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
- Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances including commercial ovens ranges steam tables washers dryers etc.
- Receive and complete work orders.
- Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools equipment and materials.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- New installations
- Exhibit a thorough knowledge of all applicable electrical and safety codes
- Ability to layout and install systems according to blueprints
- Evaluate existing circuits and distribution systems for load and balancing
- Repair and install medium voltage systems up to and including 480V
- Size circuits calculate loads and voltage drops
- Repair and install power distribution systems including transformers
- Inspect and approve/disapprove all work performed by the field crew ensuring safety and quality
- Design electrical systems as required and in compliance with the established codes
- Supervise and train helpers and apprentices to familiarize them with job responsibilities and limitations
- Exhibit leadership and create a positive working environment
- Evaluate existing systems and make recommendations for improvement
- Perform preventive maintenance checks
- Secure permits from the City of San Antonio as needed
- Maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment
- Other duties as assigned - in the best interest of the district.
Safety
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting climbing etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Multimeter ohmmeter oscilloscope and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe bender and threader; hand and power tools (saw drill etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder. Light truck or van.
Posture: Frequent standing walking climbing kneeling/squatting bending stooping pushing pulling and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures dust noise vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; around electrical power lines outside and inside frequent district wide travel.
