Job Title:Foreman Electrician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Pay Grade: MS8

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for supervising field crews of skilled personnel and ensuring that all electrical jobs are performed according to specifications and the established codes.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

1. Valid Master Electrician license
2. Valid Texas drivers license
3. Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Special Knowledge/Skills:

1. Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors
2. Knowledge of local electrical codes
3. Ability to read blueprints schematics and written reference material
4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
5. Ability to perform mathematical calculations
6. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
7. Ability to use hand and power tools
8. Ability to supervise personnel
9. Experience in residential commercial and industrial construction

Experience:

1. Five years of experience in electrical field
2. Three years of supervisory and administrative experience in electrical field preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Maintenance and Repair

1. Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures power equipment and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code manuals specifications schematics and blueprints.
2. Install and repair control and distribution apparatus including motors relays switches thermostats circuit-breaker panels etc.
3. Install and connect power supply wiring cables conduit and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams schematics or blueprints.
4. Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
5. Measure cut bend thread assemble and install electrical conduit using rulers measuring devices hand tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
6. Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances including commercial ovens ranges steam tables washers dryers etc.
7. Receive and complete work orders.
8. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
9. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
10. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools equipment and materials.
11. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
12. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
13. Detect needed repairs on buildings grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures.
14. Respond to emergency calls as needed.

16. Exhibit a thorough knowledge of all applicable electrical and safety codes
17. Ability to layout and install systems according to blueprints
18. Evaluate existing circuits and distribution systems for load and balancing
19. Repair and install medium voltage systems up to and including 480V
20. Size circuits calculate loads and voltage drops
21. Repair and install power distribution systems including transformers
22. Inspect and approve/disapprove all work performed by the field crew ensuring safety and quality
23. Design electrical systems as required and in compliance with the established codes
24. Supervise and train helpers and apprentices to familiarize them with job responsibilities and limitations
25. Exhibit leadership and create a positive working environment
26. Evaluate existing systems and make recommendations for improvement
27. Perform preventive maintenance checks
28. Secure permits from the City of San Antonio as needed
29. Maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment
30. Other duties as assigned - in the best interest of the district.

Safety

1. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
2. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
3. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
4. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting climbing etc.
5. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Multimeter ohmmeter oscilloscope and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe bender and threader; hand and power tools (saw drill etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder. Light truck or van.

Posture: Frequent standing walking climbing kneeling/squatting bending stooping pushing pulling and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions

Motion: Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures dust noise vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; around electrical power lines outside and inside frequent district wide travel.
