Position Function/Purpose Acts as a liaison between the division of Operations (Technology Department) and the division of the technology department the district and the campuses. Identifies implements and coordinates technology projects at the campus and classroom level. Coordinates district level professional development for technology integration. Makes recommendations regarding minimum technological proficiency testing for teachers and staff and various kinds of training to achieve proficiency. Aids the Director of Technology Integration in providing staff development and technical support for teachers and teacher technologists. |
Major Responsibilities Instructional Management 1. Assist in pilot studies of software and hardware systems for educational programs. 2. Assist in conducting an ongoing search for new technology both software and hardware in support of District goals. School/Organization Climate 3. Assist the Executive Director of Technology in the selection of computer hardware and software systems for students teachers administrators and support staff. 4. Write detailed analyses of recommendations for instructional technology focused on the instructional benefits. School/Organization Improvement 5. Assist with the development and implementation of programs and projects through which student teacher administrator and support staff use of computers and other technology is promoted. 6. Serve as the Districts web master by managing and updating the web site on a regular basis. Personnel Management 7. Plan and present a regular ongoing series of workshops and training sessions by which teachers acquire skills to use technology and integrate it into curriculum ensuring that teachers meet all state mandates. 8. Provide personal assistance on an as-needed basis to teachers and campus/district level administrators in the use of instructional technology and in the trouble shooting of hardware and software problems. 9. Serve as a resource to individual campuses in the presentation of campus-based training inservice and workshops. 10. Meet regularly with groups of teachers campus technologists and campus/district administrators to ensure coordination of the instructional technology program. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management 11. Exercise appropriate care of instructional technology equipment and facilities as assigned. 12. Assist the Executive Director of Technology in serving as a resource to campus and district administrators in the design and/or modification of facilities to accommodate instructional technology utilization. Professional Growth and Development 13. Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics. 14. Secure advance training in any technology being considered for adoption by the District. 15. Read the current literature in the field. 16. Perform such other duties as may be assigned or as may be necessary for job effectiveness. |

Qualification Requirements Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of computers with particular emphasis on micro-computers personal computers laptops and hand-held computers General applied knowledge of operating systems especially Microsoft Windows Knowledge of local area networks Knowledge of integrated learning systems software Knowledge of word processing spreadsheets communications software etc. Current in knowledge of technological trends particularly as applied to classroom instruction Skill in presenting training and workshops Demonstrated success in effectively working with adult educators Ability to organize and coordinate training on and off campus |
