Legendary Learner Program Coordinator- Grimsrud and Willmoore Elementary
Purpose Statement
The Legendary Learner Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Legendary Learner Grant and leading programming designed to strengthen early literacy development and kindergarten readiness for young learners.
This position combines program coordination with direct student services to ensure that children develop the foundational skills necessary for success in kindergarten and early elementary school. The coordinator works to design implement and support early learning opportunities that strengthen language development phonological awareness early reading skills foundational numeracy and social-emotional readiness for school.
The role includes collaborating with educators families and community partners to expand access to high-quality early learning experiences while monitoring student progress and program outcomes.

Essential Functions
Kindergarten Readiness and Early Literacy Programming
- Coordinate and oversee implementation of the Legendary Learner Grant and related early learning initiatives.
- Design and implement programming focused on strengthening kindergarten readiness and early literacy outcomes.
- Support development of foundational early learning skills including:
- Phonological awareness
- Letter recognition and early phonics
- Oral language and vocabulary development
- Early writing skills
- Foundational numeracy
- Social-emotional readiness for school
- Align programming with district early learning priorities and evidence-based early literacy practices.
- Monitor program impact through student progress data early learning assessments and participation metrics.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to program implementation outcomes and grant expectations.
Direct Instruction and Student Support
- Provide direct instructional support to preschool students through small-group individual and classroom-based instruction.
- Deliver targeted learning experiences designed to accelerate early literacy development and school readiness skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and parents to reinforce foundational literacy skills and support emerging readers.
- Monitor student progress through observation early literacy screening tools and formative assessment.
- Use student data to adjust instruction and support improved learning outcomes.
- Create developmentally appropriate learning environments that support engagement language development and early reading skills.
Family and Community Engagement
- Promote family engagement practices that strengthen early literacy and school readiness.
- Support families in understanding how to encourage language development reading habits and early learning skills at home.
- Provide information and resources to families related to kindergarten readiness.
- Collaborate with community organizations and early childhood partners to expand learning opportunities for young children.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with teachers specialists administrators and early childhood staff to strengthen early literacy instruction.
- Serve as a liaison between schools early childhood programs and community partners supporting young learners.
- Facilitate meetings workshops or professional learning opportunities related to early literacy and kindergarten readiness.
- Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with school staff and community partners.
- Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct Standards.
- Adhere to Bismarck Public Schools policies and procedures.
- Maintain prompt and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience
Experience working with preschool or early childhood/elementary students is preferred.
Experience coordinating early childhood programming literacy/language initiatives or grant-funded programs preferred.
Education
Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education Elementary Education Literacy or a related field required.
Masters Degree or additional coursework in early childhood education or literacy preferred.
Certificates and Licenses
Appropriate teaching credential or licensure in Early Childhood Elementary Education or similar related field preferred.
Criminal background check and fingerprint clearance required prior to employment.
Continuing Education
