Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance


TheEconomics and Business Department atOhio Wesleyan University invites applications for a visiting assistant professorship in Accounting and Finance starting in August 2026. We seek an outstanding teacher committed to engaging undergraduates in the classroom and in related campus programming through theWoltemade Center theDelaware Entrepreneurial Center and theAccounting and Finance Fellows program.


Ohio Wesleyan University emphasizes close student-faculty engagement through initiatives such as The OWU Connection its signature undergraduate experience. Within this context the department offers a vibrant interdisciplinary community with wide-ranging teaching and research interests supported by faculty development and mentoring from theSmith Center for Faculty Excellence.

This position will join a college deeply committed to flexibility interdisciplinarity and inclusivity. Faculty have opportunities for mentoring professional development and collaboration across theOhio Five andGLCA consortia.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach six courses annually (3/3) in accounting and finance at the introductory intermediate and advanced levels potentially including introduction to financial accounting financial statement analysis financial management and related topics reflecting both the candidates expertise and the needs of the department and program.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Economics and Business department to advance a shared vision for extraordinary student outcomes and growth across supported programs.
  • Support department co-curricular groups and activities as appropriate such as the Woltemade Economics and Business Fellows.
  • Assist in curriculum development revision and evaluation.
  • Play a key role in recruiting prospective students and enhancing existing campus programming.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters of Accountancy or MBA
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) preferred Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) considered
  • Work experience in accounting or finance
  • Potential for teaching excellence
  • Ability to create an environment that acknowledges encourages and celebrates difference within the context of varying beliefs behaviors orientations identities and cultural backgrounds


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level


Successful candidates are expected to pursue excellence in teaching and contribute actively to the continued growth of the department and the university.
