The University of Virginias Department of Drama invites applications for the position ofAssistant Professor of Scenic Design.
Duties include teaching two courses per semester; advising and mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate levels; building an excellent portfolio of professional creative work and/or research; and contributing to departmental university and national service in the field.
The Department of Drama offers undergraduate training in performance design and theatre studies and is part of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MFA in theatre or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include an active agenda of professional creative activity and/or research publication; experience teaching or mentoring scenic design or related subjects at the university or professional theatre level; and a demonstrated commitment to advancing excellence through teaching research and/or professional creative practice.
We seek candidates with an established or emerging record of creative and/or published work in any medium of scenic design including stage site-specific immersive interactive or multimedia performance.
