Position Description
JOB TITLE: Attendance Officer
REPORTS TO: Principal or Designee
SALARY: Classified 190 Days
The attendance officer will support the implementation of the school district attendance policies by monitoring student attendance making required home visits consulting with parents and students and filing attendance reports to the school administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain attendance records and check on non-attending students.
- Keep records of home visits school referrals and conferences with parents of students who are truant.
- Make referrals to other agencies and service organizations that may assist with helping students with clothing needs.
- Confer with the principals teachers counselors and the district administration concerning students who are not in regular attendance.
- Work with the school nurse to assist in obtaining needed services for students.
- Provide completed copies of the Home Visit Report (HVR) to the deputy superintendent weekly
- Make inquiries/home visit to students who are absent at least three consecutive days unless the student is completing disciplinary sanctions.
- Provide a review of school attendance policy and school laws as they relate to student attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Abide by state statutes code of ethics school board policies and regulations
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and student information that should be held in strict confidence.
- Maintain accurate complete and current records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations.
- Remain current on school attendance laws and information technology.
- Assist with the identification of homeless students.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree. Preferred
Related experience working with the juvenile justice system as it relates to school attendance truancy laws and student dropouts. Preferred
