The Ashtabula County Educational Service Center is seeking a Payroll Clerk to assist in our almost 300 employee payroll to start immediatley.

Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrates payroll-processing competence with an ability to perform payroll duties at required times under all circumstances.
- Experience working in a Treasurers office in a public school district is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in operating computers and standard office machines.
- Proficient in use of spreadsheet and word processing software; Microsoft Word and Excel and Google.
- Ability to use and learn various software systems.
- Proficient in payroll compliance concepts internal controls and reporting workflows.
- Exhibits strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and follow directions.
- Initiative and punctuality in completing work assignments.
- Possesses strong organization communication and confidentiality practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works independently with minimal direction.
- Establishes and maintaisn effective working relationships with co-workers related staff and other agencies.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student staff and other privileged information.
- Calculates prepares processes maintains and follows up of all payroll functions.
- Is responsible for the maintenance of computerized payroll personnel files.
- Maintains balanced journals and deduction reports at the end of each pay period monthly quarterly fiscal year and calendar year.
- Prepares all monthly quarterly fiscal year and annual reports as required by law. Verifies the timely payment of payroll taxes retirement benefits employee deductions and completion of all required reports.
- Verifies and processes monthly reports and payments for medical dental vision and life insurance benefits.
- Works cooperatively with auditors. Maintains payroll records for audits in accurate and presentable form.
- Attends meetings and other payroll related training sessions.
- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Keeps current with advances in office technology.
- Cross-trains with other staff in the Treasurers office as directed. Offers assistance when needed.
- Maintains a helpful courteous and professional manner when in contact with the public handling telephone calls emails and interactions with other staff members.
- Shows good judgement common sense and assumes responsibility (when necessary) in making decisions concerning assigned tasks within knowledge of duty.
- Is dependable reliable punctual and promotes professionalism and a favorable image of the office.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Treasurer.
