Job Summary
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design analysis and supervision of structural components supporting Eja-Ices cold chain infrastructure. This includes cold room buildings solar panel mounting structures equipment platforms and facility foundations. The role ensures that all structures are safe durable and compliant with engineering standards particularly in coastal and high-humidity environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Design
o Design structural systems for warehouse cold room facilities and solar-powered refrigeration sites.
o Develop structural drawings and specifications for foundations frames and equipment supports.
o Design solar panel mounting structures and elevated platforms where required.
- Structural Analysis
o Perform load calculations including:
o Dead loads
o Live loads
o Wind loads
o Equipment loads (compressors condensers solar arrays).
o Assess structural integrity for cold storage facilities and modular installations.
- Construction Supervision
o Supervise construction and installation works on cold room infrastructure.
o Ensure contractors follow engineering drawings and safety standards.
o Conduct site inspections and structural assessments.
o Infrastructure Development
o Support the development of cold chain hubs in fishing communities and distribution centres.
o Design structures suitable for coastal environments and flood-prone areas.
o Optimize materials for durability and cost efficiency.
- Compliance & Safety
o Ensure compliance with local building codes and engineering standards.
o Conduct structural safety inspections and risk assessments.
o Maintain engineering documentation and reports.
- Qualifications
o Bachelors degree in:
o Civil Engineering
o Structural Engineering
o Professional certification (preferred):
o COREN or equivalent engineering registration
o 5-10 years experience in:
o Structural design
o Building construction
o Infrastructure projects
- Technical Skills
o Structural design software:
AutoCAD
ETABS
STAAD Pro
SAP2000
o Knowledge of:
Steel structures
Reinforced concrete design
Structural load calculations
Solar mounting structures
Insulation Materials
- Preferred Experience
o Experience designing industrial or cold storage facilities.
o Experience with renewable energy infrastructure (solar PV installations).
o Experience working in coastal or rural infrastructure projects.
