Job Summary

Whats In It For You:

You will take an interim finance leadership role during a transition period following a change in ownership and before a new CFO joins. The focus is to stabilize day-to-day finance operations improve visibility over cash and payments and put basic controls in place. You will work closely with interim management and the existing finance team and provide clear updates to stakeholders in Japanese and English. The work requires regular on-site presence in Osaka especially during the initial stabilization phase.

Project Overview:

An Osaka-based healthcare services business is entering a post-acquisition transition. Finance processes are currently founder-led and largely manual with limited documentation slow monthly close and insufficient real-time visibility into cash movements and payment approvals.

This engagement is to provide hands-on finance oversight establish practical ways of working and prepare a structured handover to the incoming CFO. Initial duration is expected to be 23 months with a possible extension depending on progress and onboarding needs.

Your involvement in the project will be carried out as an independent subcontractor.

Contract type: Service entrust contract (業務委託)

Salary: 7000 - 10000 JPY/hour

Scope of Services:

  • Take ownership of day-to-day finance operations with a focus on cash visibility payment processing and vendor management
  • Set up a workable payment approval process and basic checks for vendor legitimacy
  • Monitor cash inflows/outflows and create a simple cash tracking and reporting cadence
  • Support month-end close activities and help reduce close timelines by clarifying roles inputs and deadlines
  • Map and document core finance workflows (payments reimbursements revenue reporting close key controls)
  • Introduce practical internal controls suitable for the current size and maturity of the organization
  • Coordinate with external advisors (e.g. tax/accounting) and support transitions if providers change
  • Prepare materials and a handover plan for the incoming CFO (status risks open items process documentation)
  • Provide regular updates to management and stakeholders in Japanese and English

  • Work from home is acceptable for up to 2 days per week.
