Our Media team is currently seeking to appoint a temporary Senior Advisor Media to work at the centre of highprofile fastpaced media and issues management supporting the NSW Governments climate energy environment and water portfolios.

The Senior Media Adviser plays a critical role in managing proactive and reactive media providing strategic advice on complex and sensitive issues and supporting Ministerial and executive communications.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing reactive media enquiries and issues including tight deadlines and highrisk matters
Providing strategic media advice to senior executives and Ministerial offices
Drafting media responses Q&As holding lines media releases and briefing material
Supporting proactive media opportunities and announcements
Liaising closely with business areas Ministerial offices and wholeofgovernment counterparts
Monitoring media coverage and emerging issues and advising on reputational risks

About You

You will be a confident and experienced media professional who:

Has strong experience in media relations issues management and government communications
Exercises sound judgement in complex fastmoving and sensitive environments
Writes clearly concisely and accurately for media and Ministerial audiences
Is comfortable advising senior stakeholders and working collaboratively across teams
Can manage competing priorities under pressure while maintaining attention to detail

Experience working in a government or politically sensitive environment is highly desirable.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in media journalism or similar or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience in media relations including contacts with media organisations and an understanding of emergent issues impacting on the client group.
