The Strategy and Planning Officer brings expertise in research data gathering and analysis identifying emerging trends to support the development of strategies and plans that deliver on the vision priorities and outcomes of the Social Planning and Healthy Communities team in alignment with the strategic direction of Council and emerging community issues.

What youll be doing:

  • Support the development of the teams annual Business Plan priorities.
  • Provide input into submissions on behalf of Council to Victorian and Australian Governments on relevant matters pertaining to the Social Planning & Healthy Communities portfolio.
  • In partnership with the Team Leader Social Strategy & Planning develop strategies and policies aligned with the teams vision that support and enable holistic responses to identified social justice and community health issues within Hume.
  • Gather a wide range of inputs and conduct needs analysis on issues and the teams priorities to support the development of appropriate strategies plans policies programs projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to Councils ongoing policy leadership by maintaining and updating policy in all areas relevant to the Social Planning and Healthy Communities team. Identity and design techniques to evaluate and report on the outcomes and effectiveness of projects and programs.
  • Lead the design and delivery of evaluation activities and subsequent data analysis to measure the impact of capacity building activities and identify opportunities for future improvement to service delivery.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with community members and organisations in the Hume municipality.
  • Lead the design of data collection and benchmarking activities.

The skills and experience youll bring to the role:

  • Undertaking research investigation identification evaluation and application of options before a course of action can be followed.
  • Proven skills and knowledge of the methodologies development and evaluation and social planning and/or social policy and research.
  • Proven skills and ability to collate analyse and present social planning data in a comprehensive and accessible manner.
  • A strong capacity to manage time set priorities and manage a number of tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues both internally and externally to the organisation.
  • Proven capacity to efficiently communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders and colleagues.

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in a social science or related discipline or social planning and policy.
