About the role

The Waterways Project Officer plays a handson and strategic role in caring for the Citys urban waterways and rivulets. This is a unique opportunity to make a visible lasting impact on riparian health water quality and community connection to waterways while working across planning onground works and partnerships.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Delivering waterway projects coordinating weed removal revegetation and riparian improvement works.
  • Protecting and improving waterways contributing to strategies grant delivery monitoring and permit processes to support healthy riparian corridors and water quality.
  • Providing advice and support responding to enquiries and working with internal teams community groups and property owners to ensure works align with environmental and safety standards.

About you

The successful candidate will bring a practical and valuesdriven approach to urban waterway management combining technical knowledge with onground delivery and strong collaboration. This role suits someone who is equally comfortable planning projects working in the field and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve positive environmental outcomes.
Key skills and experience include:
  • Urban waterway and riparian management skills including rehabilitation weed control and revegetation.
  • Water quality monitoring and sampling skills with the ability to interpret environmental data.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills working across technical field and community stakeholders.
  • Strong decisionmaking capability applying legislation policies and strategies to practical situations.

Qualifications and Licenses:

  • Diploma or Degree qualifications in the field of Environmental Science or similar field of practice
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
  • White Card
