Domestic Abuse Paralegal

If youre a paralegal who wants your work to genuinely matter this is a rare opportunity to join a specialist team supporting survivors of domestic abuse through urgent and sensitive family law proceedings. Our client is a well-established London law firm with a strong reputation for compassionate high-quality legal aid work and they are looking to add a Domestic Abuse Paralegal to their team.
Youll handle protective injunction matters from instruction through to outcome working in a supportive environment where care professionalism and doing the right thing are non-negotiable.
The Role: Protective Injunctions & Family Proceedings
Youll manage a caseload focused on urgent protective injunctions and related family matters ensuring clients are supported throughout the process.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Takinginitial instructionssensitively using atrauma-informed approach
- Drafting urgent applications includingNon-Molestation OrdersandOccupation Orders
- Preparingstatements chronologies and supporting evidencein line with court and legal aid requirements
- Liaising withcourts police support workers and interpretersas required
- CompletingLegal Aid applications includingemergency funding accurately and on time
- Maintaining files and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards
- Attending hearings where required (as support and/or note-taker)
- Providing clear client updates and maintainingconfidentiality and safeguardingat all times
- Supporting solicitors with correspondence case progression and wider administrative tasks
What Our Client Is Looking For (Experience & Skills)
To be considered you should have:
- Alaw degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification
- 12 months UK family law experience(legal aid exposure strongly preferred)
- Experience handling domestic abuse matters ideally includingprotective injunctions
- Confidence managing yourown caseload(or a strong track record running files with supervision)
- Working knowledge of Legal Aid Agency processesandCCMS
- Strong drafting skills (statements applications chronologies) and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work calmly under pressure in urgent sensitive situations
- Proficiency withMicrosoft Officeandcase management systems
- A clear commitment toequality diversity and inclusion
