Main Office: Sanford Maine
Schedule: Full-time 38 hours per week 52 weeks per year
Pay: $31/hour
Position Summary
The WIC Nutrition Coordinator assists the WIC Program Director in the development implementation and evaluation of the nutrition education component of the Women Infants and Children (WIC) Program. This position also provides nutrition counseling to WICeligible participants and supports highquality nutrition services for women infants and children throughout York County.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is passionate about maternal and child health and enjoys working directly with families in a communitybased setting. This individual brings strong nutrition knowledge effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with staff and healthcare providers to support positive health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide nutrition counseling and education to WIC participants
Assist the WIC Program Director with the nutrition education component of the WIC Program
Oversee nutritional care plans for medically highrisk participants
Oversee approval of medical formula and medical food prescriptions and submit to MaineCare as appropriate
Communicate with healthcare providers regarding participant nutrition care plans
Develop and evaluate nutrition education materials and activities
Oversee training and evaluation of Dietetic Interns as applicable
Perform WIC certification activities including eligibility determination and nutrition assessments
Assist with WIC outreach activities
Supervise WIC Nutrition counseling staff and assist with hiring training and performance evaluations following successful completion of an initial orientation and onboarding period and at the discretion of the WIC Program Director
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in Nutrition from an accredited college or university
Registered/Licensed Dietitian required
Experience with maternal and child nutrition and/or social service systems preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work with diverse populations and sensitivity to the needs of lowincome families
Reliable transportation and flexibility to work at various clinic sites throughout York County
