We are looking for a true hunter someone who enjoys building relationships from the ground up identifying opportunities others miss and developing strategic partnerships that take time patience and commercial thinking to bring to life.

Our client is a well-established national organisation in the energy sector with a strong reputation in the market. Due to growth plans they are now looking to bring in an experienced Business Development Manager to focus on developing new commercial partnerships across the country.

This role is all about playing the long game. Sales cycles can often run 618 months so success comes from research planning strategy development a corresponding tactical plan and effective execution. Building strong relationships understanding industries deeply and positioning solutions that deliver long-term commercial and strategic value.

What youll be doing

This role will see you developing the strategy identifying and developing opportunities with large commercial and manufacturing customers as well as building strategic partnerships across sectors connected to major developments where energy solutions form part of the broader project. Then making the magic happen by translating those opportunities and relationships into tangible commercial value that improves the business P&L.

Youll be:

  • Identifying and developing new commercial opportunities
  • Building relationships with senior decision makers
  • Developing strategic partnerships with developers large manufacturers and industry groups. 3D negotiations that leverage multiple party interests
  • Creating strong business case proposals and presenting commercial solutions that are win-win for all parties with data-based decision making/ making recommendations to senior leadership/ Commercially considered perspectives. NPV and RoI.
  • Working closely with internal/ cross functional teams to bring opportunities to life and commercial benefit

What were looking for

This role will suit someone who enjoys strategic business development rather than quick transactional sales. Youll bring:

  • Proven success in a senior BDM or strategic sales role
  • Strong experience developing long-term partnerships
  • A strong commercial mindset and ability to identify market opportunities
  • Effective negotiation experience and the capability to develop and deliver a multi-party commercially attractive deal
  • Excellent written communication and proposal development skills
  • The ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders

A tertiary qualification in business is highly desired although a strong commercial business development track record will be equally valued.
