Position Description
We are looking for a curious and motivated finance professional to join our consolidation team in Montreal. This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with a few years of experience who is interested in developing their knowledge of consolidation and corporate accounting within a large global organization.
In this role you will support the consolidation team in the preparation of monthly operational results consolidated financial reporting and other key financial processes. You will collaborate with colleagues across finance including financial planning and analysis tax treasury and accounting teams.
This position offers the opportunity to gain exposure to the financial reporting of a large multinational group and to develop your understanding of consolidation processes and complex accounting topics over time. We are looking for someone who is curious eager to learn and comfortable working with financial data particularly someone who has a strong command of Excel including advanced functions and who is interested in exploring more complex consolidation and corporate accounting topics.
Your Future Duties and Responsibilities
As a Financial Analyst within the consolidation team you will contribute to the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial information and support key accounting and reporting processes.
Responsibilities include:
. Support the consolidation team in posting monthly journal entries
. Assist in the preparation of consolidated monthly financial results
. Prepare specific sections of the consolidated financial statements such as segment disclosure prepaids other long-term assets and/or other long-term liabilities
. Support analysis of certain corporate costs and their forecasting
. Support the consolidation team in performing monthly and quarterly SOX controls
. Assist with monitoring foreign exchange (FX) exposure and supporting issue identification and resolution
. Maintain the monthly Profit Participation Plan (PPP) accrual and support related analysis for management
. Provide ad hoc support to the statutory accounting team in the monthly intercompany and bank reconciliation process including investigation and resolution of some differences
. Perform ad hoc analysis participate in special projects (such as accounting for business acquisitions) and provide support in the preparation of statutory financial statements
Required Qualifications to Be Successful in This Role
. Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field
. Open to newly graduated candidates and professionals with up to 3 years of relevant experience
. Intention to complete the CPA program (CPA designation is considered an asset)
. Strong proficiency in Excel including advanced functions and data analysis tools
. Interest in learning about consolidation financial reporting and accounting in a large organization
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
. Curious mindset and eagerness to learn and develop new skills
. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
. Strong communication skills in French and English
