The Product Quality Engineer Area Lead is a people-leader responsible for managing and developing a team of Product Quality Engineers supporting a specific product or functional area. This role balances technical oversight with personnel leadership resource planning and execution of quality objectives aligned with program and business goals. It is expected this will be a working lead position.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Lead coach and develop a team of Product Quality Engineers and Inspectors
- Assign resources and prioritize quality engineering work across programs
- Ensure consistent application of quality standards tools and processes
- Escalate and manage quality risks impacting safety schedule or compliance
- Partner with Engineering Manufacturing and Program leadership on quality strategy
- Review and approve major investigations CAPA and quality deliverables
- Support hiring onboarding performance reviews and career development
- Drive continuous improvement across the assigned product quality area
- Perform product quality engineering daily tasks
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- 7 years of experience in aerospace or high-reliability quality engineering
- Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of aerospace regulatory requirements and quality systems
- Proven ability to balance technical depth with people leadership
- Excellent communication decision-making and organizational skills
- Lean Six Sigma or ASQ certification preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- This position requires a mix of office-based work and time spent in lab hangar or manufacturing environments. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to walk stand and move through production test or hangar areas as needed.
- Occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds
- May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas
- Occasional travel to suppliers test sites or partner facilities may be required
- Exposure to typical aerospace prototyping environments including noise tools and test equipment.
$120000 - $140000 a year
